Stability

Stability is the number one factor that affects our decision. Luckily, both EQ5 and E7 are sturdy and durable. The impeccable leg design and dual motors allow the desk to stay stable at the peak level.

But, if we have to compare, we will say E7 wins the race. It has been tested for 20,000 motion tests in the factory. The legs are made of carbon steel. You won’t see any significant difference as the desk rises to 49 inches. No doubt it is BIFMA certified for the top-notch stability. The three-stage leg design allows only a 0.05m distance between each column. The reduction in gap eliminates any flimsiness or wobble.

That doesn’t mean the EQ5 is not stable at all. In fact, EQ5 is considered to be one of the most stable units within the lower price group. The columns are three-stage for this desk too. You might see a little wobble at the highest peak but that’s not significant enough to cause interruption.

Customization

By “customization,” we mean the freedom of choosing size and material. Flexispot in general allows customers to pick a desktop size and material of their liking. The options are listed on the website.

We will start with the EQ5. You get to choose between three desk sizes: 120×60 cm, 140×70 cm, and 160×80 cm. As for the shape, you can go with rectangular or curved. The desktop color options include white, gray, black, marble, mahogany, black walnut, ebony, and so on. You can ask for a fiberboard or bamboo desktop having a width of 110 to 170 cm. That’s pretty satisfying.

However, the E7 comes with desktop sizes ranging from 48 inches to 80 inches (48”x24”, 48”x30”, 55”x28”, 60”x24”, 60”x30”, 72”x30”, 80”x30”). That means you can easily pick a size more suitable for your workspace. It has almost the same color options for table tops as the EQ5. However, the material list includes bamboo, fiberboard, and solid wood.

As we can see, the E7 surely comes with more options to customize your desk.

Price Range

Price is easy to compare for anyone. If you are looking for a budget option, EQ5 is your best bet. It is priced below $300 on their website. However, you can definitely get it for cheaper if any discount is available.

Unfortunately, we can’t say the same for the pro E7 standing desk. It is one of the most high-quality desks available on the market today. You have to spend around $500 to get it. Depending on how you customize the desk, the price can go a bit lower.

For example, if you choose a smaller size (for example 48”x24”) with fiberboard material, the price will go down. That’s the same for EQ5 as well. The curved shape is slightly more expensive than the rectangular one. You have to understand what you really need and order accordingly.

Leg Design

Both E7 and EQ5 standing desks come with exceptional leg designs. Perhaps that feature contributes to their stability. Let’s take a closer look.

For EQ5 Active desk, it has inverted legs. If you notice, the leg frames are somewhat bulkier than other desks within the same price range. That’s a big plus point here. Because it’s a feature normally seen with top-notch electric desks. The purpose is to increase stability even at the highest height. Logically, bulkier legs are going to be more stable.

On the other hand, we have our E7 sit-stand desk from the pro series. The leg frames come in two shapes. You can choose either a T type or a C type. The first one (T type) offers a leg frame that is centered on the foot stand. Flexispot E7 has a 26.8 inches long foot stand. And, you connect the legs in the middle which is around $12 inches.

Then, we have the C type. As you can guess already, the legs are not centered. The columns are connected to the stand 7 inches far from the center (12”). The design is especially for people who like more space under the desk. If your workspace is tiny, you might not want the desk to take away all your space. Having a C-type desk allows you to move objects like shelves under the desk.

We can say, the innovative leg designs justify the money you spend on them.

Load Capacity

Next, we have the weight capacity. The rule is simple. The more weight the desk can handle, the better. In that sense, none of the desks disappoint us. The E7 has a max weight limit of 355 pounds or 161 kg. That’s a lot. You can easily fit two desktops and other accessories like printers, lamps, and speakers into the range. That’s a huge benefit if you need too many gadgets around you while working.

On the other hand, the EQ5 allows you to put 220 pounds or 100 kg on top of the desk. It’s lower than the 7 for sure. But considering the price range, it’s the best you can expect.

Moreover, both E7 and EQ5 have dual motors. That’s the reason why you hardly ever hear a transitioning sound. The speed is also praiseworthy. The EQ5 is tested to transition 3.5 cm per second. If you think that’s impressive, wait for the E7. The pro-standing desk can go 3.8 cm per second. That means you don’t have to wait more than 20 seconds for the desk to change position. That’s pretty convenient.

Height Adjustability

Last but not the least, we will discuss height adjustability. If it’s E7, the minimum to maximum height range is 23 to 49 inches. Flexispot claims the height range is perfect for anybody within 4.2’ to 6.4’. Not to mention, if you are 6.4’ it’s better to use monitor stands for more comfort and ease.

On the other hand, the EQ5 provides a height adjustability range of 24.5 inches to 50 inches. In that sense, the desk is more suitable for the taller demographic who find the E7 bit uncomfortable or lower.

Flexispot EQ5 VS E7: Which One To Choose?

Here comes the big question. If you want to pick between the EQ5 and E7, which one should you choose? First of all, both units work fantastically for their designated price group. We think price and height are the only factors that should dominate this decision. Because EQ5 has all the premium features from LED panels and stability to inverted legs within $300. If you are looking for something low-budget, you should definitely check out the EQ5 without a second thought.

On the other hand, if you can spend a bit more, you shouldn’t miss the E7 pro desk. this ergonomic desk comes with almost every electric feature you can think of. The stability is up to the mark along with its aesthetic finish. Not just that, the coated spray is sustainable and environmentally friendly. According to us, a $500 desk can’t get better than this one.

Wrapping Up

Flexispot EQ5 is slightly less popular than the best-selling E7 pro desk. But we think you shouldn’t go with the flow. Just take a moment and consider what your true need is. If you think the EQ5 has everything for your workspace, you can end up saving more than $200. Use that money to buy accessories that can enhance your experience even more. For example, ergonomic chairs, mats, storage trays, and so on.

That being said, if you really need a durable and sturdy desktop that can tolerate heavy weight without losing performance, stick with the E7.  So, that was our opinion on this matter. Hope you liked the article.
